Cake Balls

So I'm sure everyone has seen the new cake pops everywhere at their local super market. Well as I'm sure everyone can tell, I much rather make all my own desserts at home. Way more fun, and you looks way cooler than all those other people who just throw a bunch of cookies on a platter. Well here's the recipe to make your own cake balls and wow everyone.

What you'll need:

1 (18.25 oz) package of chocolate (or vanilla) cake mix
1 (16 oz) prepared chocolate (or vanilla) frosting
1 (3 ounce) bar chocolate flavored confectioners coating

How to do it:

  1. Prepare the cake mix according to package directions using any of the recommended pan sizes. When cake is done, crumble while warm into a large bowl, and stir in the frosting until well blended.
  2. Melt chocolate coating in a glass bowl in the microwave, or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  3. Use a melon baller or small scoop to form balls of the chocolate cake mixture.Dip the balls in chocolate using a toothpick or fork to hold them. Place on waxed paper to set. If you desire, buy a bunch of small sticks so you can use them to make cake pops!(:
I seriously had the toughest time making them into perfect balls, after a few shots at making them perfect they looked like the professional ones from the bakery. However every time I made them, they tasted delicious!

Oreo Cheesecake

So this past week I went on an oreo kick. Lets just say I was at the gym a lot more this week too! So like I always do when I'm craving something is go online and see waht kind of crazy concoction I can come up with this time. And guess what I found...? An Oreo Cheesecake! Talk about mouth watering goodness. Well like always here's the recipe:) Enjoy!

What you'll need:

2 Packages (8 oz each) Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup milk (whole worked best for me)
2 eggs
6 Oreo Cookies, coarsely chopped (about 3/4 of a cup)
1 Oreo Pie Crust

What do to:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually mix in vanilla, sugar, milk, and whipping cream and mix until smooth.
2. Add eggs one at a time; mix just until blended. Stir in 1/2 cup of the cookies.
3. Pour mixture into Oreo crust. Sprinkle the remaining chopped cookies on top.
4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Top with whipped cream

This recipe would be great for little kids, I mean come on, it's one big giant oreo. Good luck!

Sangria

Now this is the right way to make a sangria, talk about delicious. You always need a sangria recipe when you're having those dinner parties where you need something that sticks out and people are raving over. Well here's the next to be talked about drink(:

what you'll need:

1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
1 1/2 cup of rum
1/2 cup white sugar
1 bottle of your favorite dry red wine.
1 cup of orange juice

how to do it:

Make sure you have all the fruit chilled before cutting it. Once chilled slice the lemon, orange, and lime into thin slices and pour the rum and white sugar over it. Leave in fridge for a couple hours and once ready to serve pour the wine over the top of it. Then take a wooden spoon and crush the fruit lightly with it. Adjust the sweetness with whatever taste you prefer.

Enjoy!(:

Coconut Lime Cheesecake

Best 2 flavors/ recipes thrown into one delicious cheesecake. You seriously can't beat this coconut-lime cheesecake. Between the smooth rich taste of the cake and the coconut lime flavor, oh boy you're in heaven. I was so ready to try this recipe, and you should be too!

What you'll need:

3/4 cup crushed ginger snap cookies
3/4 cup sweetened coconut flakes
3 tablespoons melted butter
2 eight ounce packages of softened cream cheese
1 ten ounce can of condensed milk
2 eggs
1 tablespoon lime zest
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon coconut extract
2 cups cubed fresh mango
1 teaspoon white sugar

Directions
1.   Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pan.

2.   Combine the coconut, gingersnap cookies, and melted butter in a bowl; mix until evenly moistened. Press the cookie mixture into the bottom and slightly up the sides of the prepared pan.
3.   Bake the crust in the preheated oven until browned and set, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.

4.   Reduce oven heat to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

5.   Beat the softened cream cheese in mixer bowl until smooth. With beater set to medium-low, slowly pour the condensed milk into the bowl, mixing only until just blended, stopping to scrape the sides of the bowl as necessary. Add the eggs, individually, allowing the first to blend into the mixture before adding the second; again, scrape the sides of the bowl as necessary.

6.   Pour about half of the cream cheese batter into a separate bowl. Stir the lime juice and lime zest into the portion in the new bowl; pour the batter over the crust in the pan, smoothing into an even layer.

7.   Stir the coconut extract through the remaining cream cheese batter; pour over the lime-flavored batter in the pan, smoothing into an even layer.

8.   Bake in the preheated oven until the top of the cheesecake springs back when gently pressed, about 45 minutes. Turn oven heat off, but leave cheesecake inside with oven door slightly ajar until the oven cools completely. Refrigerate until completely chilled.
Prepare mango coulis by pureeing the mango with sugar until smooth. If too thick, add a teaspoon of water at a time, using just enough to make pourable. Drizzle over cheesecake when plated.

Week 7 forum

I hate to say it but I know I wait till the last minute to do basically everything. Between working 2 jobs, and having 5 other classes it's hard to split the time evenly and I sit down every change I get and finish what I can. Even though I have no gotten to complete my review page, I do however like everyone elses webpages. You can tell every single person is really putting in a solid effort and trying really hard to complete the assignments. I have no background with HTML so I am very proud of myself for being able to figure most of this help. For the student that have more background, I praise you guys. I wish I had this background, it would help incredibly! Overall, I am really happy with my webpage. I know it's not much, but it's the fact that I am actually completing the task and figuring it out. Even though I don't think I could go out and create a webpage for a company, at least I have an idea of what really goes in behind it!

Potato Skins

So I've been on this new kick the past couple weeks with potato skins. I don't know why but every time I go out to eat, I am for that delicious appetizer. Sometime's I even have it as a meal. When I'm at UNO's I get the pizza skin one but I found the potato skin recipe and now I can make it for half the price then going out ahah. So once again, I give you the infamous recipe:)!

Enjoy as much as I do! (P.S. These are a great party pick food!)

What you'll need:

6 russet potatoes (small to medium-sized is best)
Canola oil
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
6 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Sour cream
1 green onion, thinly sliced

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Scrub the potatoes and dry them thoroughly. Rub the outside of the potatoes with canola oil and place directly on the oven rack. Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, or until potato is tender when pierced with a knife. Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes or so, until cool enough to handle. Increase oven temperature to 450 degrees F.
3. Slice each potato in half lengthwise. Using a spoon, cookie scoop or melon baller (any will work), scoop out the insides of the potato, leaving a little bit of potato clinging to the skin (about a ¼ inch).
4. Combine the melted butter with 2 tablespoons canola oil. Brush both sides of the potatoes with the butter/oil mixture and then season with salt and pepper. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet face-down and bake for 10 minutes. Flip the potato halves over and bake for an additional 10 minutes (the edges of the potato skins will start to turn golden brown).
5. Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the insides with the shredded cheese and bacon. Return to the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Switch to broil for an additional minute or two, if desired.
6. Use tongs to transfer the potato skins to a serving platter. Add a dollop of sour cream and sliced green onions to the potato skins and serve immediately.

Delicious Fish Bowl (with gummies!)

Summer is just around the corner and I am dying to try some new summer drinks. I found this one online and it is definitely one for the books. Of course, before I hand it out to all my friends and they judge me for how disgusting it is, I had to try it for myself. Now I'm telling all of you that you have to try it too! (Careful, this one will put you on your ass, so be safe!). It's that time of year, so I might be posting a few more of these!

What you'll need:

½ cup Nerds candy
½ gallon goldfish bowl
5 oz. vodka
5 oz. Malibu rum
3 oz. blue Curacao
6 oz. sweet-and-sour mix
16 oz. pineapple juice
16 oz. Sprite
3 slices each: lemon, lime, orange
Lots of Swedish gummy fish!

Sprinkle Nerds on bottom of bowl so they look like those cute little rocks on the bottom of a fish bowl. Fill bowl with ice. Add remaining ingredients. Serve with 18-inch party straws. This is seriously the talk of the party. You can't go wrong with a cute new party drink. Talk about delicious! I'm such a little kid at heart and love these new ideas that are creative and alcoholic at the same time! ahaha! Enjoy:)!

Pandora Radio

Pandora Internet Radio is the most amazing internet radio station out there. Its free and it has the widest selection of music. From country to pop, screamo to rap. You can download the app on your Iphone or any other product that is able to download apps. If you want the upgraded version you pay whatever it may be, I believe it's $2.99. That way you don't have to listen to the commercials and adds they put into it all. But in the end it doesn't really matter because the commercials only come on every 30 songs or so. The only downside that I have yet to see about Pandora is that you are limited to skipping songs. Because it is a internet radio source, they only allow you to skip a set amount of songs a day. So when you get to 5 or 6 songs you really don't like you are stuck there. But if that's all anyone has to complain about, then I think you're in the clear. If it wasn't for Pandora I really wouldn't know half the songs that I have come to love.
